Ubisoft has announced that the Six Invitational 2021 is back, The Six Invitational is back on May 11 through to May 23rd after originally being delayed due to COVID-19.

As originally planned, Ubisoft is bringing the Six Invitational to Paris, France. Although, the event was nearly doomed, with Brazillian teams unable to fly with the current flight restrictions in place between Brazil and France. However, the LATAM representatives can attend the event after the French Government and Ubisoft agreed. Sadly, APAC team Wildcard Gaming cannot attend the event, being the only team unable to attend.

The remaining 19 teams will indeed do battle to crown the long-overdue 2021 World Champion. The Group Stages contain one group of ten and one group of nine. The top 4 teams of the Global Standings (BDS, Cloud9, TSM, Giants Gaming) were cross-seeded in Group A & B. Based on the Global standings as well, a random draw was made in this specific order to dispatch the 16 other teams in Group A and B:

  • Top 5-8
  • Top 8-16
  • 4 qualifiers

Those curious who are competing when the schedule currently has the group stage through May 11-16. The entirety of the Group Stages will play online, with teams competing from their isolated Hotel rooms. Moving on, there is a break for two days as teams prepare for the Playoffs. The Six Invitational 2021 Playoffs then commence from May 19 to 23, broadcasting from the Palais Brongniart venue. Like most events taking place on LAN in esports, they are at the mercy of the COVID-19 restrictions and governing bodies. The Six Invitational 2021 is working with Live Nation, ACEPS health agencies, ISMA and the French Government to handle the situation safely. Ubisoft has placed the full details of the Sx Invitational 2021 here. Tell you what, it is certainly going to be interesting seeing G2 Esports at the Six Invitational without Pengu.
