With one of Gaming’s biggest events approaching, it is all rumour mills ahead of E3 2021 on June 12. One of the big rumours circulating around E3 in 2021 is the Nintendo Switch Pro, which is looking like the bigger and better Nintendo Switch. While the rumours of the console have been and gone over the years, they have certainly ramped up over the last few days. Here is what we know about the Nintendo Switch Pro.

Nintendo Switch Pro Announcement

The Nintendo Switch is not an official announcement as of yet. The product is only floating around through various rumours from several sources. As it stands, the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch Pro could come anytime this week, or it could drop during Nintendo’s E3 Conference on June 15. According to the French Retail leak, the announcement for Nintendo could come anywhere on June 3 or June 4, roughly one working week prior to E3.

However, the Nintendo Direct Conference at E3 will take place on June 15 at 17:00 BST, 18:00 CEST, 12:00 EST, 09:00 PST. The conference will detail a 40-minute presentation of the biggest things Nintendo offers, along with three more hours of gameplay footage, interviews, and more. We could see even more news and feature updates on the Nintendo Switch Pro during those 4 hours of the Nintendo Direct broadcast.

Specs

Likewise, nothing is confirmed regarding the specs of the Pro, although OLED company Universal Display Corp may have leaked some specs. During the Q1 investors call, one of the speakers mentioned that Nintendo selected them to make the new Pro screen, as it offered better response time and contrast. In contrast, other reports seem to suggest that Samsung could be in the works. However, the report has no confirmation.

Furthermore, the console supposedly features Nvidia chipsets, which greatly enhance games already on the Nintendo Switch. The chipset is supposed to upscale games to 4K, greatly improving on games already out for the console. Furthermore, it might make games such as Apex Legends look even better, considering the ports downscale.

Price

According to one internal leak in France, the Pro is getting a more expensive RRP. While the Nintendo Switch typically values €300, but the new console will cost €400 if the leak is true. For UK buyers, this could mean the £280 price could rise to £350 and the US $300 could lead to $400. It is also worth noting there are no current price ranges for console bundles, so that is something open to interpretation.

Release Date

The Nintendo Switch Pro release date currently has no official release date. However, we could be looking at a late 2021 or an early 22 release date. The Nintendo Switch has been a thing ramping up over the last three years. Furthermore, Nintendo has already stated that the regular Nintendo Switch is halfway through its intended life cycle. Launching the Nintendo Switch Pro ASAP comes nicely to shift into the next four years of its product lifecycle.
