One of the best weapons in New World is the Rapier. The weapon is rapid, with one of the only weapons with a rotation familiar to other MMOs. To top it off, it can destroy enemy players in PvP, with plenty of skills dealing damage, duking, and outplaying your opponent. If you’re looking for a New World Rapier build for any content New World offers, then we have you covered.

New World Rapier Bleed Build

The main PvE boss killing Rapier build specializes in Blood skills. By combining Rapier’s Blood specialization with the Spear’s Impaler spec, you can create a build focused on hemorrhaging your opponent. The key to making this New World Rapier build work is to apply three stacks of bleeds on your target via the Tondo skill. When you apply the third bleed to your target, you will use Flourish and Finish to consume all the remaining damage on your bleeds, hitting for a chunk of damage. The build effectively combines a mixture of damage-over-time (DoT) and burst to create one of the most exciting playstyles in New World.

New World Spear Build

The weapon we highly recommend the most is the Impaler build on the Spear. You’ll want to use Skewer for an extra bleed, along with Perforate to apply a Rend debuff onto your enemy (which increases damage taken). Perforate is a key part of the build, as it improves all of your damage while Rend remains active. In addition, Spear applies bonus damage based on the number of debuffs on the target. Rend, a Rapier’s bleed, and a Spear’s bleed count as three, with an optional slow for a fourth debuff. Having four debuffs on a target means the spear can make some incredibly powerful Light attacks.

However, it is necessary to mention this New World Rapier build is a very high skill cap build. You need to know your cooldowns, like the back of your hand. Furthermore, you’ll need to rotate between weapons consistently to ensure the debuffs are reapplied or maintained.

New World Rapier Build with a Bow

Alternatively, you can use a Bow to optimize your Bleed build. The Bow’s Skirmisher specialization is all about applying debuffs and doing AOE (area-of-effect) damage. The AOE is a great addition to the build, as the Blood specialization naturally lacks any real multi-target damage. Also, the Bow’s range adds a whole new dynamic to a melee build, allowing some ranged harass and an escape tool with Evade Shot.

New World Bow Build

While the Bow’s skills and ranged flatter melee playstyles, the Skirmisher has a few passives that flatter a debuff build. The Battle Precision, Mark, and Hunter’s Insight benefit from hitting enemies with debuffs on them. All three add up to contribute bonus damage to debuffed targets, along with extending the duration of the debuffs and stamina regen. While it is not as devastating as a Spear’s damage buffs, it does offer more utility.

New World Fire Staff Build

If you would prefer more burst damage build, then you can use a Rapier and Fire Staff. At first, these two weapons seem like an odd pairing, but the Rapier scales from Intellect and Dexterity. What this means is that the Rapier can gain more weapon damage from your Intellect attributes. However, your Fire Staff only scales through Intellect. Therefore, you’ll put 50 points into Dexterity for the 10% bonus critical strike milestone. The rest of your points go into Intellect to improve both the Fire Staff and Rapier weapon damage with some points for Constitution for more HP.

The Rapier will remain specced into Blood, doing the same playstyle as the builds above. However, you can spec into Grace for PvP, as the Fire Staff will need some survivability. The skills you’ll want to use in PvP are Ripose and Evade. Both skills provide you with the stuns and extra dodges you need to run away from any axe-wielding maniacs trying to exert pressure on you.

As for the Fire Staff, you’ll follow a standard Fire Staff build. You’ll be using Incinerate, Fireball, and either Pillar of Flame (PvP skill) or Meteor(PvE skill), depending on your preferred content. Any passive that reduces mana cost, adds more critical strikes, Empower buffs, and stronger Light and Heavy attacks are all important as the Fire Staff is how you’ll weaken your enemies before engaging with the Rapier.

If you opt for this New World Rapier build, then you’ll need to be aware that mana can be an issue. You should always have mana regeneration food and mana potions on you to ensure you stay efficient.

As you can see, the Rapier is a very good weapon in New World. It can be the main weapon for dexterity-focused builds, or a supportive weapon for Intelligence playstyles.
