Hi-Rez reveal Athena Remodel for Patch 8.5

Hi-Rez Studios, the Publishers behind Smite has revealed that one of Smite’s most popular character is getting a new visual model. Athena Smite is getting some love, with a brand new base Athena remodel for Patch 8.5.
The Visual Update
Athena is one of Smites most popular Gods. She was originally released back in June 2013, getting additional skins over time. However, in 2021, her base model is now eight years old. With the evolution of the game, the character does look aged. However, Hi-Rez had some good news as of the Smite Update show, showing off her new base skin, high council, and mastery skins.
The new Athena remodel is all visual and sound, with no gameplay changes what so ever. Athena is the patron god of Athens and the Goddess of War. The idea of the remodel was the better reflect her position as a daughter of Zeus and a Greek. The new look gives her more of a Greek toga look, along with hairstyles appropriate to the classical period. In addition, she has a few voice lines, which you can listen to on Smite’s website.
Furthermore, Athen’s classic skin and voice lines remain available in the store. Players can get them with Gems if they wish, or spending their Favor on it.

- Reverted the duration increase from 1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0s to 1.0/1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0s
- Decrease Magical Damage Scaling from 30% to 20%
- Decrease Base Damage from 50/80/110/140/170 to 40/70/100/130/160
Athena Nerfs
While this is great news for one of Smite’s best Supports, she is getting a few nerfs too. Her Confound, which was buffed in 8.3 is getting nerfed in 8.5. It makes sense really, considering she is currently permabanned in Smite Pro League, making her an S Tier Support.
The nerf comes in patch 8.4 bonus update. The extent of her nerf isn’t much, and she’ll remain very strong indeed.

The nerf only nerfs early game power of the ability, with her being just as strong at the end game
