The Red Bull Kumite is one of the biggest events for Street Fighter V on the calendar. After having no event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is back, bringing talent to London after last hosting the event in 2019 in Japan.
Red Bull Kumite London event will also invite 16 SFV players to battle over the 2020 Kumite Championship. The event will feature the regular competitive aspect of the game and more. 15 players will receive direct invites to the event, with one UK player guaranteed to attend through the Last Chance qualifier on May 2nd.
During the last Red Bull Kumite event in Japan, several British stars performed incredibly well. 2018’s SFV Evo champion, Benjamin “Problem X” Simon, who plays for mousesports, came second, losing to the home country star Atsushi “Fujimura” Fujimura. Also, DC “Infexious” Coleman finished in 8th place at the event. Whether either of these players returns for their home country’s event is uncertain, but London might deliver some home town stars.
Also, ASTRO Gaming, the producers of various video gaming peripherals and products, sponsor the event. ASTRO is providing the athletes competing with headsets, mixamps and controllers. Moreso, AOC is providing the event with monitors to run the show.
Furthermore, the upcoming fighting game, Guilty Gear – Strive, will have special features, demoing the gameplay, interviews with the developers, and more. The showcase will be streamed over a six-hour special show during the Red Bull Kumite London event. The news details that fans will know enough to get themselves ready for its June 2021 release window.
The Kumite is not the only gaming and esports events Red Bull involve itself with. They too have hosted WoW events, such as the Race to World First, housing teams like Method. Besides, they have announced the return of the Red Bull Flick for CSGO back in march. Lets hope the return of the Kumite is as grand as ever.
