FIFA 22 System Requirements, Release Date

EA has announced a release date of October 1 for the latest in its soccer franchise. However, despite FIFA 22’s system requirements remaining up in the air, the revelation that the PC version of the game will be in line with last-gen consoles rather than the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S suggests the minimum and recommended specs will be largely unchanged from last year.

Given that there was a minor backlash last season from PC soccer fans on hearing that FIFA 21 was similarly held back, it’s fair to say that the sentiment has not improved. In among the disappointment however, FIFA’s PC community has long resigned itself to the fact that the platform has always seemed to be an afterthought.

EA has said that the reason for FIFA 22’s second-tier ranking on PC is down to a new feature called HyperMotion. The studio has been running some new AI algorithms over motion-captured games, which has resulted in 4,000 new animations that baseline PCs will apparently be ill-suited to render. To be fair, PC gamers haven’t had much opportunity to upgrade given the long-term shortage in GPUs over the last couple of years, so perhaps we should give EA’s user data the benefit of the doubt.

Based on the specs from last year, then, here are what we believe the FIFA 22 system requirements to be. Mid-table here we come!
