The League of Legends LEC Spring 2021 Season Awards is undergoing a big change, bringing in fans worldwide to cast their vote on all the split awards. At the end of every Regular split, League of Legends experts featuring Riot related talents, journalists, and pros themselves get to nominate players for different awards categories. Riot Games LEC team has released an update, explaining everything we need to know ahead of the LEC Spring 2021 Season conclusion.

Eligible Rookies

Rookies are one of the most popular contested categories in the LEC. Rookies constantly come and go in the LEC, and the LEC Spring 2021 Season Awards is no different. Eight players are on the list this split, with many of the players having a solid reason to receive the award.

The other categories available are for the split’s MVP, and the eligible coaching teams are up for grabs for everyone.

The list of nominated rookies are as follows:

Update – Riot Games has issued an update regarding the status of SK’s Treatz. The player was added on March 10, after fans became curious about his eligibility. Treatz previously played for TSM in 2020, making him technically not a rookie to the Franchised leagues. However, the player does technically qualify for rookie status due to the number of games he played as a rookie in 2020. With his addition, Treatz has one of the hot contenders to the topic, with his play seeing SK Gaming become one of the hottest teams in the LEC.

Why Has the Voting System Changed?

Riot Games changed the voting system to allow fans closer to the awarding system. Riot feels that fans should be a part of the “history-making” moments in the LEC. The new process is available and will take on board feedback from those who provide it.

The entire system will still encourage skill to award players and teams the appropriate award category. There is an element that fan voting could go to popular players. So, Riot Games will monitor the votes even after the results are over.

The awards are counted and opened once when the LEC Week 8 completes. The voting will close approximately five days after the conclusion of the LEC Spring Regular Season.

Hopefully, the final week of the LEC will be grand. There are three playoffs spots left in the LEC, with six teams still congestion for those spots. Earning a spot in the playoffs and winning it will send the team to MSI, located in Iceland, in May.
