Knockout CIty is a new game, taking dodgeball mechanics combined with old school Quake weapon spawners to compete over. Players run around the map trying to collect dodgeballs to throw at their enemies in various game modes. Furthermore, the game has many different skill mechanics, allowing players to outshine the rest. Here are the best tips and tricks to get good in this Knockout City Beginners Guide.

Teamwork

Teamwork is the best mechanic for achieving success. Passing the ball between teammates successfully improves the speed the ball travels. As the ball begins to build momentum, players can launch at their opponents, reducing their time to catch the ball. It is one of the better tactics to bait the opponent out or catch them off guard.

Also, becoming the ball means your teammates can pass you around instead of an actual ball. The benefit of this is that you, as the player, can be launched into the air using an ultimate throw. The unique throwing move allows the ball player to control their comedown, causing a huge explosion, taking a life for every enemy caught in the explosion. Besides, a player ball automatically eliminates anyone enemy player hit on regular throws too.

Use your action moves

Every character has the same movement abilities, including a glider, dash, jump sideways spin and jump roll. The unique thing about the jump spin is that it adds spin onto your ball has it releases. It means you can curve the ball around corners, hitting people otherwise in cover.

Furthermore, the jump and roll in the air curve the ball up and down. It is great for going over moving traffic in maps, catching people over short walls, or on too wide walls. Although, watch out for any low hanging bridges, roofs, or shelters. They can accidentally block a locked on dodgeball that would otherwise hit the target.

Finally, the glider is a great way of buying that extra crucial second of aim. If you‘re about to land behind cover, where it obstructs your target, you can glide to buy time. What this allows is that extra moment to get the perfect one target who thinks they are safe and out of line of sight. The ball can completely surprise the opponents, grabbing the team a point or making an enemy lose a health point.

Catch the Balls

Catching the balls is very important part of outplaying the enemy team. Firstly, catching a ball makes it so that the receiving player doesn’t lose a point of life. Although, the more practical part of catching the ball makes it possible to counterattack efficiently. Performing a perfect catch reduces a character’s recovery time while overcharging the ball. Overcharging the ball means that the ball travels at increased speeds instantly. Recovering quickly and throwing a ball at speed can catch the opponent off guard.

However, there is some risk to this Knockout City tip. Missing a perfect catch sadly means you will get hit by the ball. There is undoubtedly risk and reward, but it is important to mention in this Knockout CIty Beginner’s guide.

Use Fake Throw

A fake throw is one of the hidden mechanics of the game. Go into the controller or keyboard setting of your chosen platform and find the fake throw button. Faking a throw allows the character to pretend like they are throwing with an animation. After that, someone who is locked on by the fake throw might try to block the nonexistent ball, creating an open to get a ball through their defense. For some balls, this works even better, such as the multiball. Good luck falling for a fake when there’s now three balls charging their way towards the tricked Knockout City citizen.

Know the balls

Every game of Knockout City is different, with its rotating powerup ball every game. Learning what every ball does is important for succeeding, hence the inclusion in the Knockout City Beginners Guide.

The different types of balls in Knockout City include:

  • Sniper Ball –  the ball with the longest lock-on range in the game
  • Multi-Ball – Pickup that grants three balls instead of one; additional balls despawn very quickly.
  • Moon Ball gives the wielder gravity resistance and launches the receiving player into the air. when hit.
  • Bomb Ball – as soon as the ball is picked up, a timer begins, which will eventually blow up, instantly killing whoever was caught in it.
  • Cage Ball – Any player hit by this ball will not take damage but instead forces them into ball form.

Knowing the ball that is on the map will affect the way you play. For example, a Multi-Ball will force players to rely on deflecting ball, getting into cover, and not falling for fake throws. The Sniper Ball means you can perch up at long angles, taking out unsuspecting enemies. Furthermore, passing the sniper ball to build the ball’s speed makes it stronger for long-range firepower. The Bomb Ball can encourage players to play hot potato rather than launching the ball straight away. It seems that adaptation is an important skill in the Knockout City Beginners Guide.
