dev1ce Joins Ninjas in Pyjamas, Leaves Astralis

Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, one of the most prominent CSGO players of all time has announced his departure from Astralis. The star AWPer has transferred to Sweden’s Ninjas in Pyjamas on a three-year deal.

Dev1ce’s move to NiP is a sign of the grand ambition the NiP squad has. The roster has been slowly and slowly improving, just lacking that x-factor to really push into the top of events. NiP’s most recent event is the sing the roster is almost there, with a fourth-place finish during the ESL Pro League Season 13. 

By signing Dev1ce, the roster has gained that x-factor, that consistency that could be the solution to NiP’s missing piece. During the star Dane’s career, he has made it to several Major Finals, winning four majors while he has played for Astralis. Reedtz has played on Astralis since 2016, and the move is a major transfer, arguably the largest transfers in recent history.

“Leaving Astralis is tough, to say the least.” said Dev1ce. “The boys will always be like family to me, but this covid era has left me thinking a lot; where do I see myself when it all goes back to normal? I’ve lived in Sweden for some time now, speaking the language and I’m really hyped about this young and exciting NIP project. To join one of the most successful organizations, where so many legends have played, inspires me. Just see what LeBron James achieved with the Lakers for instance, and with the Major in Stockholm coming up; to bring that home to Sweden is my number one goal.”

With the Dane’s signing, he has committed to joining a Swedish roster, speaking their language. Dev1ce has been living in Sweden for some time and is practising the language daily. It is likely he can compete with the roster using the knowledge of the language he possesses. Although, Tim “nawwk” Jonasson has departed the roster with the acquisition of dev1ce.

NiP has some time to embed Dev1ce on the roster before officially competing. The Flashpoint 3 event kicks off on May 10 – 30th, with NiP attending as a direct invite. Flashpoint 3 is a European RMR event and is very important for the Stockholm major qualification. It will be very exciting to see how the roster performs.
