Valve has revealed a new Dota 2 update to better streamline the game for new players. The Dota 2 New Player Experience, intends to make the game much more accessible, which coincides with the new Dota 2 Netflix series. Learning how to play Dota 2 is difficult, and we have highlighted easily digestible information on how to play Dota 2 here. But with that said, Valve’s attempt to make getting into the game easier is a nice touch. Here is what is in store.

Streamlined Shop

MOBA’s have many items, and Dota 2 is no exception. The game has so many different items, each with its own purpose for many different types of heroes. The number of items can be daunting for Dota 2 new players, so the shop will streamline the process for common items. The new player experience means that those trying out Dota can learn at a less stressful pace and not feel an information overload.

Dota 2 Tutorial Missions

Dota 2 has launched four scripted missions for new players to get stuck into. The four missions work very similarly to tutorial missions, allowing new players the opportunity to explore the different concepts of Dota 2.

The four missions focus on concepts like warding, teleporting, or courier control. Other missions highlight teamfighting, lockdown, or initiating fights. And some introduce you to things like Demo Hero, playing with friends, or spectating. The amount of techniques and gameplay features players need to learn in Dota 2 is immense. So the Dota 2 new player experience tutorials are a great addition to the game.

Dota 2 New Player Mode

Dota 2 has so many Heroes, it can be overwhelming to learn not only what every single one does. To limit more information overloads, the Dota 2 New Player Mode will limit Heroes in the game mode. New players will get to know a much smaller sample size of Heroes before being thrown in the deeper end with Dota 2 Veteran Hero pools.

Furthermore, new players solo queueing will always play with and against partyless new players in the New Player Mode. New players won’t meet any parties or Dota 2 veterans. Valve has also implemented a max queue time for the New Player Mode to ensure a quick start while protecting the player pool, Besides that, if a lobby didn’t fill by the time the queue end, the remaining spaces will fill with bots, and bots will take over Heroes once controlled by a player that left the game.

New players looking to play matches with friends can do so, but they will go against an entire team of bots. It allows new users to play with friends of all skill levels while maintaining a friendlier learning environment.
