Bungie has had quite a few issues with Destiny 2 leaks recently, but that has not stopped the hype for the official reveal of the Witch Queen. Bungie has uploaded a Destiny 2 showcase Witch Queen teaser, revealing the character Savathun (née Sathona) for the first time.

The Destiny 2 Witch Queen teaser is a 15-second video that comes a day before the official reveal of the upcoming Destiny 2 Witch Queen expansion. Bungie has appeared to delay revealing the expansion for some time, as we already had an idea of what the Witch Queen expansion is all about. Recent leaks have demonstrated who the Witch Queen is and what some of the content of the expansion will be.

Destiny 2 Witch Queen Leaks

With the Witch Queen leaks originating back to January, it’s probably the case that the rampant speculation has driven Bungie to alter some of the planned content. We could get a few surprises during the August 24 Destiny 2 Stream if that is the case. But, if it isn’t, we could be seeing some subclass updates among other content.

Perhaps, the biggest leak of the most recent teaser trailer is the true form of Savathun. The imagery that was leaked in July was just concept art. But, as of the recent Destiny 2 Twitter post (linked above), it does seem the imagery, voice, and statue belong to Savathun. Either way, this Savathun character will be a big deal for the foreseeable future of the Destiny 2 universe.

Who is the Witch Queen on Destiny 2?

Savathûn, the Witch Queen, is a Hive god and sister to Xivu Arath, the God of War and Oryx, the Taken King. The Witch Queen and her two siblings are progenitors of the contemporary Hive species and one of its chief gods, having made a pact with the Worms of Fundament. The character’s aim has been to understand the deepest secrets of the universe, as part of her ultimate goal of gaining power from those who seek to undermine her schemes.

If you have been playing Destiny for some time, you should recognize some of the above names. The Taken King, Oryx, is already an established baddie that Guardians have battled with on several occasions. Back in the early days of Destiny lore, the Guardians defeated the Takon King, with the Witch Queen stepping up to be the next major baddie. While we do not know her true intentions yet, we’re sure to discover more in the Bungie Witch Queen stream.
