After weeks of wild speculation, numerous leaks, and scurrilous rumor-mongering, Call of Duty Vanguard has been officially revealed. It turns out everything that had been widely reported about the next in the CoD series is true. All of it.
Surprising absolutely no-one, Call of Duty Vanguard will be set in World War 2, with much of the action centered on special ops missions behind enemy lines. The campaign will start on the western front, will move east via North Africa, before shipping across to Asia and the Pacific theater towards the end in the game.
Developed mainly by Sledgehammer Games, CoD Vanguard will be released on November 5 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with slightly less impressive versions for PS4 and Xbox One.

What isn’t as well established is that there’ll reportedly be a number of testing phases for various platforms that will incorporate a new mode dubbed Champion Hill. According to prominent CoD leakers, Champion Hill combines round-based and battle royale gameplay elements and will form the backdrop of the Warzone map for the coming year.
The Call of Duty Vanguard alpha is rumored to start August 27, with the initial Call of Duty Vanguard beta on September 10. Both are said to be Playstation exclusive (PS4 and PS 5). These testing phases will be followed by an open beta on September 16, which will be open to all platforms.

Call of Duty Vanguard is the eighteenth mainline Call of Duty game and the sixth to be set during World War 2. 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War was the game that introduced zombies to the series. Zombies will, of course, be shambling into Vanguard in due course. This bit is official: “Zombies fans will experience a signature undead gameplay experience, marking a franchise-first Zombies crossover for Call of Duty.”
