Back 4 Blood releases on October 12, 2021 and developer Turtle Rock Studios has confirmed that the game will feature cross-play across all of it’s supported platforms. That means players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC will all be able to play together.

How exactly the Back 4 Blood cross-play functionality will work has not been revealed, but it seems likely that due to publisher WB Games, linking WBID accounts will be a requirement to facilitate matchmaking services outside of Microsoft and Sony’s closed off networks.

How do I sign up for a WBID account?

To sign up for a WBID account (which also works with games like Mortal Kombat, Injustice and Batman Arkham) you will need to go to https://www.warnerbrosgames.com/

The fastest way to get to the new account sign up screen is to click ‘Log In’ at the top right corner of the screen and then go to ‘create an account’. Once you’re on that screen, put in your information and follow the instructions until you’re signed up!

You should only have to log in on a WB Games title once for it to remember your account details and keep your console linked forever. It’s worth doing, as sometimes you’ll get sweet bonuses like exclusive Batman costumes.

Does Back 4 Blood have Cross-Progression?

While no information has officially been released on whether Back 4 Blood has cross-progression of any kind, it can probably be assumed that it will work much like another WB Games title — Mortal Kombat 11.

“Krossplay” was somewhat stealthily added to console versions of MK11 on November 17, 2020 and does not include any cross-progression features. Character, skin and item unlocks are stuck on the console on which they were unlocked, sadly. Not everyone can be as seamless about this sort of thing as Fortnite, for some reason. Until Turtle Rock Studios or WB Games says otherwise then we should assume it will be the same situation here.

Are you excited for Back 4 Blood? Do you have a stubborn friend that refuses to play on the same platform as the rest of you, even though lots of games are multiplayer?
