Go!View, Sony’s official PSP video on demand service has launched in Europe today. The service has been eveloped in partnership with Sky and features content from BBC Worldwide, ESPN, Disney, ABC and National Geographic. Users can download such TV hits as Doctor Who and Top Gear, sporting events and movies. For a moderate fee, naturally.
The pricing system seems similar to Sky’s modular TV packages, offering subscription levels based on comedy, sport and entertainment, which can be mixed and matched. 1 pack will cost £5, 2 packs £8 and all three £10. Individual TV episodes can be "rented" for £1.50 and movies for £2.50. Everyone who registers on www.goview.tv will get a free month’s subscription.
It remains to be seen how such a service will be recieved, considering how well sales of UMDs were once PSP owners worked out how easy it is to put movies onto memory sticks. For free.
