Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been a long time coming. After it’s long awaited sequel on the Gamecube, fans have been waiting even longer for its next generation debut on the Nintendo Wii. Numerous delays and pushbacks only raise the frustration of long-time fans. Well guys, the wait is over. The Brawl to end them all has arrived and is now in the hands of gamers worldwide. Has Brawl reinvented the SSB series, or did they just build upon an age old classic? I think you already know the answer.

Mario is back and as badass as ever.
The idea behind Super Smash Bros. is simple. The game pits you against numerous mascots from other games, mostly Nintendo and tasks you with knocking your enemies off the stage by using your unique abilities and items strewn across countless battlefields. This simple mechanic is what makes this series so addictive. Rookies can pick up the controller and have it mastered in minutes, yet its deep enough to keep the hardcore fighter fans satisfied. Thats enough about what makes this series so great, lets get into what makes the last itteration the perfect conclusion to this memorable franchise.
Super Smash Bros. Fans need not worry. Their beloved game has not been changed dramatically, or been removed of any big feature. While this will be a blessing to most, in the end it might end up being Brawls main weakness. As is the problem with all major series, its hard for a developer to really push the franchise forward without risking a disastorours result. Everything that fans have come to love is back. Easy and fun to play combat, enjoyable and unique characters, tons of battlefields and numerous items to beat up opponents with. Alright, lets get down to buisness.
There are in total, 35 characters in Brawl, 9 more than Melee, and 23 more than the original. This time around however, it isn’t just Nintendo characters for the most part. Numerous 3rd-party characters are now playable including: Sonic, Solid Snake, and Olimar. Every single character has its own set of moves (expect for Fox and his pals), each with their own set of stengths and weaknesses. For example, Bowser may be big and powerful, but he is very slow and vulnerable when numerous enemies surround him. Even though each character is totally different, they don’t take long to get used to as it will only take a match at most to start kicking ass. We were very happy to see more characters added to Brawl and more specifically, more 3rd-party characters. We had a blast playing around with the speedy Sonic and hiding in boxes with Snake.
