It’s over!!!!
Three weeks of no retail releases! The bleakest period in the 360’s history has finally ended with today’s trio of new titles and what a mixed bunch they are.
First up is Space Chimps based on the frankly tedious looking film of the same name. As is the case with all these new fangled animated films, Space Chimps is a typical fish out of water tale and is set up to make a dismal platformer/adventure game. Early reports suggest that game lasts a mere three hours but I imagine there is some kind of tedious item fetching achievement that stretches it out for four days.
“Collect all 560 globhoppers in the game”. Ah, there you go.
Then we have SBK-08 Superbike World Championship. Yeah look, I don’t care either. I’ve played these things before and they always end up the same way with me vowing never to play it again after crashing horribly at least eight times in the first lap. The reviews haven’t been glowing for this title though, with several reviewers citing ‘Moto GP’ as the better title for serious bikers.
I rather enjoyed ‘MX vs ATV: Unleashed’ earlier this year actually but that’s less ‘sim’ and more ‘ridiculously stupid’. Fun game though if you’re looking to er… burn some rubber.
Finally, we’ve got the biggie. Soul Calibur 4 from serial evildoers Namco. I can’t emphasise enough, Namco HATE you. Not just a little like, say, the hatred you might have for coffee-flavoured Revels but rather the extreme pathological hatred that one might have for the individual members of the boyband ‘Blue’.

Don’t get me wrong, I love old Namco and indeed Soul Calibur (the lovely old Dreamcast one) but Namco already have tonnes of DLC planned and you can bet that it’ll all be stuff that’s already on the disc. This being the same company that sold harder difficulty levels PER STAGE on Ace Combat 6.
Seriously, just boycott it. Reclaim gaming and don’t give Namco a fucking penny.
Phew! Rant over.
